Divyang Sahayak portal is started to provide benefit of “Digital India” concept to all Divyangjan to get Photo ID cards for online concession facility on rail travel. From now onwards, the Differently Abled persons won’t require visiting railway reservation counters to get rail travel concession because this portal would allow them to get their tickets booked online.
Act for the online service
Hon’ble Minister for Railways announced the online facility in his Railway Budget 2015-16. He launched the scheme on Pan-India basis where Divyangjan are allowed to get their concessional reserved tickets from PRS counters, e-ticket/i-ticket through IRCTC website. The scheme is also applicable on concessional unreserved tickets across the UTS counters throughout the country.
Divyang Sahayak portal takes this scheme a step ahead by allowing Divyangjan to apply for their Photo ID cards online. The first step in direction is the start of the service and the second step is opening of online application facility to get Photo ID cards for getting concessional tickets.
Rules of the scheme
- Orthopedically handicapped
- Deaf & Dumb
- Mentally Retarded
- Blind patients
Persons belonging to the above-mentioned categories are entitled to concessions in rail travel.
Card for persons with permanent disability (Orthopedically/Paraplegic persons above the age of 35 years) would be valid for 5 years from the date issuance. But Divyangjan can apply for a new card 3 months before the expiry of their permanent card. It would be a Photo ID card with a unique ID number issued by the Indian Railways.
Online application for Photo ID card should have the necessary details about Concession Certificate, Photo Identity proof, Date of Birth proof, Address proof and two passport size photographs. The card would be issued by the concerned authority and no fee will be charged by the Indian Railways for issue of this photo ID card.
